A volunteer team of
doctors, nurses and technicians performed
heart surgery for ten patients in 2005 as
part of one of the largest philanthropic
efforts in Guam's
health care history.
-
Guam
has the only cardiac care center in the
region and serves as the central tertiary
care center for all of the Micronesian
islands.
-
MRF plans to continue to
make between two to four trips a year to
perform cardiac-related surgeries.
-
Over $250,000 in medical
equipment has been donated to
Guam
Memorial Hospital.
-
These efforts are
sponsored in partnership with Valley Heart
Association.
-
Patients identified as
most in need of the surgery incur no cost
for services rendered.
-
This project is now fully
operation and financially sound. The program
will be continued by Valley Heart Associates
and Guam Memorial Hospital.
-
MRF is proud to have been
a part of the beginnings of such an
incredible asset to the region. The program
treats hundreds of citizens of
Guam and surrounding area through cardiac cath
intensive cardiac care and or surgery on a
yearly basis.
